Description | Because narrative allows for robust player connection to game worlds and spaces, we argue in this paper that narrative is a vital aspect of game design, and the continued resurgence of the narrative debate underscores the need for feminist game studies. As Adrienne Shaw (2017) and others have proposed, the time is ripe for the inclusion of more intersectional feminist practices in game design and game scholarship, in order to better understand player positions in and around games. In this paper, we argue narrative is an essential component for that expansion and understanding. |
