DescriptionWhile Latin courses at the undergraduate level traditionally focus on translating texts written by elite Roman men, students could greatly benefit from an educational approach that makes the classical world more accessible to modern audiences by treating Latin more like a living language and emphasizing the lived experiences of ancient people,

This is the goal behind [Title TBD], a video game being developed as part of a M.A. project at the University of Arkansas, which will allow beginner Latin students to learn the language actively in the context of Roman daily life. Through gameplay, students will not only build a strong foundation of Latin vocabulary and gain a more thorough understanding of Latin grammar, but will also have the opportunity to discover the richness of Roman material culture and observe the diversity of the classical world through interactions with characters of different classes, ethnicities, and genders within Roman society.
