DescriptionBlood Myth - Educating about Sickle Cell Disease through Gaming

Blood Myth is a platformer mobile game to re-educate teens with sickle cell disease about self-care measures to prevent pain crisis.

Playing as Spiko, a young dragon tribe member, you set out on a physical as well as spiritual journey to climb the mythical Mount Nwiiwii. The Blood Myth legend claims that no one who makes it to the top, is cursed. Rather than providing a cure, however, your gain is a perception change from "victim" to "hero".

Your hike towards the snowy mountain top leads through the four seasons. Each season is a level and comes with its own challenges connected with sickle cell anemia. To complete your journey, you must monitor your hydration level and body temperature, avoid exhaustion and heat / cold traps, and stop regularly to drink water, rest and cool off / warm up.
